In Greece just over eight months ago, midfielder Mateus Vital has been transferred from Corinthians to Panathinaikos until June 30, but his future is uncertain. The athlete has confirmed that he will have to return to Brazil to decide whether to join Vítor Pereira’s team or remain in the European national team – Panathinaikos is entitled to a purchase of 4 million euros (about R $ 22.8 million).
” My wife is going to Brazil now, on the 13th, and my daughter has to go with my wife. Here (tournament) ends on the 21st, I have to go back to Brazil, I have a contract with Corinthians until December 2023 and when I get to Brazil we will talk about my next steps.” said Matthew Vital in an interview ge.globo.
The 24-year-old played 39 games for the Greek team and scored three goals – in addition to helping. The team is playing the last part of the season and still has decisions ahead of it, such as the issue of a place in the Europa League. Vital believes that this is why the definitions of his future have not yet been discussed.
” I haven’t heard anything yet, I don’t know if they’ve talked to Corinthians or if my representatives know anything. As we approach the final stretch, it is time to make a lot of decisions here, we don’t know if we will go to the Europa League, I think they are waiting for the definition of this, to decide the players who will stay. next season. I think this definition goes beyond our classification. Other players are in a similar situation and there is a lot of talk about how our season is going to end, ” he said.
With this uncertainty, Mateus Vital does not hide his desire to continue working in Europe. The midfielder, however, said he would welcome a return to the Parque São Jorge club if necessary.
” I’ve always dreamed of being able to play in Europe, I came here and spent my first season here. I have a contract with Corinthians until December 2023, I don’t know what will happen if I stay with the will of God and Corinthians, I will be very happy to wear this shirt again, no comment on the greatness of this club. It will be very moving and very important for me to wear the Corinthian T-shirt again for my career”, the midfielder made it clear.
” If I can stay in Europe, I’ll look for a place, or if Panathinaikos wants to buy it or talk to Corinthians to give up again, I’ll be very happy too, facing it as an important moment in my career. That will be my confirmation in Europe. I have to go after my goals, have a good season, to continue, ” he added.
Despite his focus on the Greek conflict and his desire to continue in Europe, Vital continues to follow the Corinthians’ match and took the opportunity to leave his praise to Vítor Pereira. The player also highlighted the good sequence of the team and the way the captain uses the lineup.
” As long as I can, I watch the games live. I see the best moments when I can’t. I watched the game against Bragantino, I was coming back from our game, I got home at 11pm, and the Corinthians game started at midnight. It was easy to see that when he returned from the game, he needed time to sleep. It’s good that Corinthians are going to win, ” he said.
” This squad is qualified by many players, it has a coach who knows how to use this team very well, this job is being done by all of them. I am very happy that Corinthians are achieving their goals, well in the Brazilian and the good results of the Libertadores, everything is on the way to the standings. In Brazil you have to keep doing this good work, stay at the top of the standings and maybe get the title, and that would be very important.” he continued.
In addition to talking about the current Corinthians, Vital also commented on Fiel’s strength. The player showed his love for Alvinegra fans and compared them to Panathinaikos fans.
”Man, it’s hard to talk about Corinthians fans. I’ve never seen it the same, actually. It’s very different, Corinthians fans are different. But Panathinaikos fans are very fanatical. They filled the stadium in almost every game, they always help us. They were coming from a not-so-good season, sometimes the crowd was quiet, but they weren’t. They are very fanatical people, they sing for almost 90 minutes, there is always music. The final will be at the Olympic Stadium here, on the municipal field, nice, very nice, and it will be 50% for each side ”.
Mateus Vital has a contract with Corinthians until December 31, 2023. If he returns to Timão in June, he will only be able to register for the club’s competitions from 18 July, when the transfer window to Brazil opens for the second half.
