Junior Alonso expects Atltico to improve after a poor result

Defender Junior Alonso tried to explain Atltico’s 1-1 draw against Santos on Saturday night in Mineiro for the 11th round of the Brazilian Championship. Galo beat Peixe 1-0, had one more player, but ended up giving the equalizer. People, angry at Gigante da Pampulha with another negative result, abused the athletes after the match.

For the Paraguayan defender, Atltico lacked intensity when he had a numerical advantage on the pitch. Alonso says the team slowed down in the second half against Santos and called for improvement.

“We slowed down in the second half. We lacked intensity in the second half. We need to improve on that,” the defender said.

Alonso believes that Atletico should be more humble and respect their rivals. “In my opinion, with more humility, we got one more in the second half, we didn’t know how to take advantage of that. We made a draw. Improve that, respect the rivals, they also play,” he added.

With the draw, Atltico lost the opportunity to be among the leaders of the Brazilian. Alvinegro is in fourth place with 17 points, three less than Corinthians.
